The Virginia Creeper Trail (along the abandoned bed of the Virginia-Carolina Railroad) is perhaps the prettiest mountain bike ride you will ever encounter. In addition to these trails, the Trans-America National Bicycle Trail, the Iron Mountain Trail, the Daniel Boone Trail, the Crooked Road Musical Heritage Trail, and Virginia’s Birding and Wildlife Trail all cross in Damascus and give credence to its nickname, Trail Town, USA! The summit of Mount Rogers can only be reached by hiking. For the serious hikers, the Elk Garden Trailhead is only a few miles from the B&B and leads about 4 miles to the summit. Appalachian State University and Emory & Henry College are nearby.

Abingdon, home of the famed Barter Theater and the Martha Washington Inn, is just 45 minutes away. Here you will find many shops, galleries and restaurants. The Birthplace of Country Music in Bristol Tennessee as well as America’s favorite Nascar Race is 50 minutes away.
