Coolgreen Bed & Breakfast $370,000
On the evening side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Coolgreen B&B enjoys an unobstructed view of White Top Mountain and Mount Rogers, the highest peak in Virginia! A paradise for outdoor lovers!
The B&B, built in 1906, served as a Lutheran Boys School from the early 30’s to 1959. It was extensively renovated in 2007-8. It. has 6/7 Bedrooms and 5 Bathrooms and updated utilities.
The Main Level has a wide covered porch complete with rocking chairs, an entrance foyer, a living room, a small bedroom and bath and private sunroom, a dining room with breakfast area, a state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen, a laundry/office, a den area, and a master bedroom and bath.
The Second Level has a master suite and bath plus two bedrooms with a shared bath. These two bedrooms each open onto the enclosed porch where fantastic views can be enjoyed.
The third level has a two-bedroom suite with bath.
13.3 miles from Exit 35 of I-81, the B&B is situated on 6.146 manicured acres. The driveway is paved and there is ample parking. There is central heat and air conditioning. The present owners have operated the B&B seasonally and enjoyed the lifestyle.
The Damascus area is a major tourist destination for those seeking the outdoors, with biking, hiking, horseback riding and trout fishing being its claim to fame. Both the Appalachian Trail and the Virginia Creeper Trail cross here. The Appalachian Trail is well known to hikers up and down the East Coast. The Virginia Creeper Trail (along the abandoned bed of the Virginia-Carolina Railroad) is perhaps the prettiest mountain bike ride you will ever encounter. In addition to these trails, the Trans-America National Bicycle Trail, the Iron Mountain Trail, the Daniel Boone Trail, the Crooked Road Musical Heritage Trail, and Virginia’s Birding and Wildlife Trail all cross in Damascus and give credence to its nickname, Trail Town, USA! The summit of Mount Rogers can only be reached by hiking. For the serious hikers, the Elk Garden Trailhead is only a few miles from the B&B and leads about 4 miles to the summit. Appalachian State University and Emory & Henry College are nearby.
Abingdon, home of the famed Barter Theater and the Martha Washington Inn, is just 45 minutes away. Here you will find many shops, galleries and restaurants. The Birthplace of Country Music in Bristol Tennessee as well as America’s favorite Nascar Race is 50 minutes away.
